VIVEGAM - ONE MAN SHOW!!!!

My view about the movie VIVEGAM!!! (Contain Spoilers)

A good attempt by the entire crew to lift the standard of the action movies in Tamil Movie industry. Yes, the movie is having flaws but an attempt without a flaw is unheard of. Let us hope that whoever responsible learns from these flaws. You always get wiser after the incident.

First & foremost, one has to applaud and appreciate Ajith Kumar (AK) for the commendable effort and dedication shown to ensure that he portrays the character in a believable way. The vision of the director in depicting the hero will always be in words but the hero's job is to transform the words to action. I guess that is what has happened in this movie.

Secondly, the visuals are stunning. Being entirely shot in Europe, the visuals are quite exuberant and the camera work is awesome. Not only the camera work but the team responsible for location hunting should also be given a pat on their back. We may have seen few instances of great location in previous movies of Ajith (Billa 2, Aramabam) but the entire movie is filled with locations that fit the situations perfectly.

One of the major backbone of the movie is the sound. For any action movies, the BGM plays a vital role and Anirudh has ensured that the sequences are remembered not only because of the actions but also for the BGM. This is one of the best compositions for an action movie by the music director. The songs are also aptly tuned and composed based on the necessity.

Apart from the above, the rest of the crew have done a decent job. Vivek Oberoi seems to be a well mannered antagonist who can be and should be utilised more in the upcoming movies. More over, being a hero centric movie, I understand the limitations provided to the antagonist role.

Similarly, Kajal Agarwal and Akshara Haasan have done their bit to the script's requirement.  One cannot overlook the fact that the screen time given to Akshara is almost less than 10 mins and is portrayed as a pivotal character which gets to a abrupt closure!!!

A special mention to the art director for giving us a very good representation of a Command Centre, Safe House, the Artillery used in action sequences!!!

Nowadays, there are lot of venues to watch hollywood movies and people are getting wiser. Hence, the story teller of a movie has to think beyond and come up with ideas that will make the audience sit up and get engaged to the screen during the entire time of the movie. Particularly for a action based movie, it is highly important that the audience should feel the adrenaline pumping just by watching an action sequence. My very own thought after seeing the introduction of the hero is that the director would have kept a car chase to begin with instead of the dam sequence. Being just an audience, I am not sure the pro's and con's of it, but Ajith Kumar is a naturally talented race car driver and it could have been used to make a great impression in the opening sequence of the movie. (I am just thinking of the car drift in Billa 1)

Also, the action portions, the bike chase sequence, the nunchuck fight choereography would have been much more elaborate (not to the boring level but still intriguing enough).

After 2 continuous movies with the same actor/director combo, I think the dialogues are becoming monotonous in this 3rd movie. Every time Ajith Kumar starts to speak, it is either about hardwork, friendship, comeback from behind and it is beginning to get easily guessable. It is time to show variations not only in the genre of a movie but also in the dialogues.

There are few portions which are exclusively kept for sentimental purpose and also gives the director's trademark. Especially, the boost up song in the climax, is an example of the director's trademark. In almost all the previous movies by the actor/director combo, you could see the same situation in the climax - Veeram (Temple Festival), Vedhaalam (Dhurga Pooja Festival).

Overall, I would say that it is a very honest and great attempt by the entire team in lifting the level of action movies. However, there are numerous portions from which the team has to learn and then give us a better movie than this one which will definitely be a pinnacle of success!!

A Bird's Eye view of Chennai from Light House!!!

Most of those who have Chennai as their birth place, might not have visited the light house and I was one among them till 6th Dec 2013. I have to be honest, it's been more than 3 years since I visited the Light House but still I am able to recollect the memories as if it happened recently. Situated at the beginning of the world famous Marina Beach, it was opened to public after a gap of 2 decades. The view from the top is absolutely stunning, especially the sea side view, provides a different outlook about the sea. There are totally 10 floors at the light house and the 9th floor alone is open for public view. You can reach the 9th floor using the elevator service. Pictures should speak for themselves and I hope you too will agree as you go through them!!! About Light House!!!
